I am 3rd Class Major in

the Military Force at the Ham Din Province in Joong Khim up the north. - On the 18th February 1867, I left Ham Din in man-of-War Junk

for

"Home" the Capital of Cochin-China with Treasure, Sugar, and rice. I had

59 soldiers on board. - On the day following

our

departure, we were attacked by ten Chinese piratical boats and robbed

of all on board. - I and my men were taken on board the piratical boats,

we had been forcibly taken - and then to

Macao, where we were, against our will,

put in the Barracoons. On board two of the Piratical Boats, I saw two Portuguese,

one of whom I pointed out to the Macao Authorities. Of the 59 men taken, only 15 are here. I do

not know what has become of the

others. We were placed in separate Barracoons.
